February is “Heart Health Month,” which means this is the perfect opportunity to shine a light on the damage that diabetes can cause to your heart.

In the study, scientists looked at the effects of vitamin C on high glucose levels in the blood.
You see, when your blood sugar spikes (as it does when you’ve got type 2 diabetes), it reacts with proteins in your body to form what are known as advanced glycation end products (AGEs).
Now that’s a mouthful, for sure — but what you need to know is that these AGEs cause serious long-term damage to your heart.
