The cancer news that’s too big to ignore

Well, wonders never cease.

The mainstream is FINALLY waking up and smelling the coffee about something it has ignored for years.

The study, published in The New England Journal of Medicine, followed 700 men with early-stage prostate cancer who were randomly assigned to receive either surgery or “observation” — meaning they were monitored and only treated for any bothersome symptoms that showed up.

By the end of the study, it turned out that the gents who went under the knife didn’t live significantly longer than those who were simply observed.

Isn’t that the whole point of doing surgery in the first place — to increase your chances of survival?

But what surgery DID do was cause serious complications — and not just secondary infections, something you risk anytime you let someone cut you open. The guys who got surgery found themselves unable to hold their pee and unable to perform “in the moment.”

Bottom line: You’re better off doing NOTHING than letting your doc slice into your manhood!

Now, the study did suggest that surgery may prolong life for one group and one group only: those with intermediate-risk disease, meaning they had more aggressive tumors that were more likely to spread.

But, since the vast majority of new prostate cancer diagnoses — 70 percent — are of those in the early stages, surgery usually shouldn’t be your first step.

Opting for the “watch-and-wait” approach will have you covered — because that so-called “active surveillance” involves getting regular blood tests and screenings to make sure your cancer isn’t spreading or progressing.

In most cases, tumors grow so slowly that you won’t need any treatment at all!
