It wasn’t that long ago that folks were DEATHLY afraid of germs.

So it became the “new normal” to wash our groceries… quarantine our Amazon deliveries… and put on gloves before retrieving our mail.

Yep, we were committed to keeping deadly germs OUT of our homes – and FAR away from us.

Well, in an ironic twist, there’s something that’s absolutely CRAWLING with germs – and it’s already inside your home.

In fact, one study showed it’s the FILTHIEST thing you own – and you’re probably touching it multiple times per day, EVERY day. (Hint: It’s NOT the toilet!)

Let me explain…

Sponging Off Your Health

If you ask most folks to name the germiest room in their home, they’d probably say the bathroom.

And the creepiest, crawliest thing? The toilet.

NOPE… and NOPE.

Actually, your “spotless” kitchen could be a germ playground, thanks to a bacteria magnet you hold in your hand… and use on nearly EVERYTHING…

Your kitchen sponge.

Yep, a new study finds that the typical household sponge is teeming with germs… many directly tied to infection, illness, and WORSE.

In fact, these “bacteria reservoirs” contain more active, disease-causing pathogens than anything else in your home – yep, even the toilet.

Friend, I previously revealed that spice containers contain more dangerous bacteria than anything else in your kitchen.

But sponges take the cake when it comes to overall germs in your HOME.

Plus, while you think sponges are helping you clean up, they’re actually spreading dangerous germs…

Even E. coli and salmonella, which can trigger serious, if not FATAL, illness and health problems.

It’s not a cleanliness issue – it simply has to do with the SPONGE itself. (You couldn’t design a better germ breeding ground if you tried.)

You see, sponges are wet, warm, and filled with nooks and crannies where bacteria hide – protecting them from soap and efforts to clean them…

And providing different bacterial strains with ideal conditions to grow and thrive.

For example, some germs like to hang out and breed with other strains… and sponges are like social clubs where they can easily meet and mingle.

Other germs prefer going solo, away from other bacteria… and that same sponge has plenty of secluded “bachelor pads” where they can live alone.

And then YOU use that sponge to wipe down your kitchen counters, table, dishes, cookware, and utensils after every meal.

Cleaning Up

Obviously it’s not realistic to use a fresh, new sponge every time you do the dishes.

But you CAN take steps to keep the one you’re using as fresh and clean as possible.

One option is tossing it in the dishwasher every time you do a load.

You can also nuke it.

Now, I’m NOT a fan of microwave ovens – in fact, I don’t even HAVE one.

But I get that most folks DO, so if you’re one of them, zap that sponge for about a minute or two, and repeat every couple of days.

Or… there’s the simplest option of all – a dishrag you can toss into the wash each day.

That’s what grandma used in HER kitchen… and that’s good enough for me!
