[SENIORS] Lose Weight… and DIE?   

For most folks, dropping a few pounds – or more than a few – is a dream come true.

After all, who WOULDN’T be over the moon to see the scale show a number they haven’t seen in YEARS…

Or slipping on once-snug pants that now have room to spare!

Losing weight not only makes you LOOK better, it’s a HUGE boost for your health, right?

Well, hopefully.

Because as a new study found, seniors who lose weight could soon be facing a serious health crisis…

And even DIE before their time.

The Ultimate Loss

Friend, if you’re a healthy senior and you’ve lost some weight, you’re probably the ENVY of your friends and loved ones.

After all, shedding extra pounds sure isn’t easy.

And your buddies may be even MORE jealous if you weren’t even trying.

But that’s where all that GOOD news… can turn very BAD.

See, when it comes to unintended weight loss, we already know that UNHEALTHY seniors can lose weight due to their health conditions.

But this was the first study to focus on weight loss on HEALTHY older folks.

The participants, aged 70 and up, did NOT suffer from chronic illness, physical disability, or life-threatening conditions, like cardiovascular disease or dementia, before the study began.

But when it ended four years later, many of them had DIED.

What was the common link? Losing weight.

Researchers discovered that seniors who lost weight were more likely to die in the foreseeable future.

And not only did their starting weight have no effect on the results, neither did the number of pounds they shed.

In fact, ANY amount of weight loss – even just FIVE percent of total body weight – spiked the odds of early death.

Unintended Consequences

So what’s going on? Isn’t losing weight a GOOD thing?

Friend, it IS – if you’re TRYING to lose that extra weight… and you do it the healthy way, through diet, exercise, and other good lifestyle habits.

See, unintended weight loss is often a key warning sign of hidden health issues, like cancer, dementia, or other chronic and deadly diseases.

Other health problems that often cause weight loss are pain, mobility problems, medication side effects, and even loneliness, which can crater your appetite, eating habits, and metabolism.

And one more thing – as researchers noted, their results were just observations…

Meaning weight loss was found to be RELATED to early death – but didn’t necessarily CAUSE it.

But friend, this study does have a key takeaway for YOUR health: it’s VERY important to monitor your weight as you age.

If you’re NOT trying to lose weight, but your scale or your clothes show that you ARE losing, speak to your doctor right away.

He or she can screen you for underlying health issues… and monitor your weight loss to help you stay healthy for the rest of your life.

    The arbitrator’s award shall be binding and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, no arbitration under this Agreement may be joined to an arbitration involving any other party subject to this Agreement, whether through a class action, private attorney general proceeding, class arbitration proceedings or otherwise.
