If You Catch Too Many ZZZs… You May NEVER Wake Up

You know how VITAL sleep is to your overall health…

Your body needs sleep to rest, refresh, restore, and clear away toxins and other harmful waste.

So NOT getting enough can open the door to a long list of health problems, like memory loss, cognitive decline, diabetes, weight gain, and more.

You see, new research on seniors revealed that TOO much sleep can skyrocket risk of the ultimate slumber – the kind where you NEVER wake up.

Risky Sleep Problems

Too MUCH sleep? Is there really such a thing?!

Turns out, there IS.

Most folks get an average of six to eight hours of shut-eye per night…

Maybe you get that, too – but then sleep IN each morning. Or maybe you like to take hours-long NAPS during the day. Maybe BOTH.

Problem is, instead of leaving you MORE refreshed, all that extra sleep can lead to a DANGEROUS outcome…

A deadly stroke.

In fact, the study found that seniors who regularly slept MORE than nine hours DOUBLED their risk of deadly stroke.

But that wasn’t the only sleep problem that made stroke more likely…

  • Napping an hour or more spiked stroke risk by 88 percent
  • Snoring increased it by 91 percent
  • Sleep apnea TRIPLED stroke risk
  • Getting UNDER five hours of sleep also TRIPLED the risk

Researchers also looked at two other slumber issues – snorting and poor sleep quality.

And while each significantly increased the odds of stroke on its own…

Having FIVE or more of these sleep problems catapulted the risk by a whopping FIVE TIMES!

A Wake-Up Call

Friend, no one has ZERO stroke risk.

Sure, factors like getting older, being overweight, and high blood pressure can make it more likely…

But plenty of “perfectly healthy” folks are rushed to the ER with strokes every day.

So a study that identifies MAJOR risk factors – like sleep problems – should be a wake-up call.

What can you do to reduce YOUR risk?

Well, if you regularly overdo your beauty sleep, set an alarm clock to cut it down to about seven hours.

And if you typically nap away the afternoon, consider a 20 minute power nap instead – or none at all.

As for snoring and snorting, they’re both key symptoms of sleep apnea – a condition where you stop and start breathing during the night.

Those pauses lead to low oxygen and high blood pressure, and make it nearly impossible to get good quality sleep. That’s why apnea patients often sleep more and nap longer.

And ALL of those are risk factors for stroke.

But here’s the thing: Most people with sleep apnea DON’T know they have it.

If you’re overweight and snore, you could have apnea — especially if you’re dog tired each morning, despite a full night’s sleep.

Your doctor can have you tested…

But the best solution is to lose weight, which can ease or eliminate it.

Not only will you sleep better, you’ll lower your risk of stroke, too!
