Mood Disorder MANGLES Your Immune System?
There’s a LOT of illness going around these days…
Like the three dangerous respiratory infections they’re calling the tripledemic.
These virus-borne illnesses are VERY contagious, which makes them so dangerous – especially, for seniors.
But some folks seem to catch EVERYTHING that comes down the pike – even when nobody else does.
If that sounds like YOU, the culprit could be a common mood condition best known for spiraling your mental health.
But as research shows, it can ALSO sabotage your physical health – and in ways you’d never expect.
That includes mangling your immune system… so it can’t protect you from disease.
NOT All in Your Mind
Depression can SAP all the joy out of your day-to-day life.
But do you know who’s got PLENTY of joy?
Drug companies.
They LOVE when folks think of depression as a mental issue – that means they can sell LOTS of brain-scrambling drugs.
But depression can take a toll on your physical health, too.
And if it goes untreated… or is “treated” with Big Pharma’s dangerous mood meds…
It can weaken your immune system – and expose you to a LONG list of dangerous and deadly illnesses.
The study found that depression causes deformities in white blood cells – your immune system’s FIRST line of defense against infection and disease.
Study subjects WITHOUT depression had normal-looking white blood cells.
But it was a VERY different story for those with a history of depressive disorders.
Turns out, their white blood cells were twisted out of shape.
Researchers found that different types of immune cells were affected, depending on how long or intensely the subjects had been struggling with depression. For example:
- Those with a history of on-again, off-again depression had deformed monocytes and neutrophils
- Subjects with current, active depression had damaged lymphocytes
- Those with persistent depressive disorder had deformities in their erythrocytes
And those critical shape changes weakened the immune system, making it difficult – if not impossible – for it to fight off infection and disease.
Beating Depression Naturally
Friend, depression doesn’t just mess with your mood… or immune system.
It’s ALSO linked to inflammation – the driver of nearly EVERY major disease.
And antidepressants can’t do a whit about ANY of that – heck, they may not be all that effective for depression itself.
But luckily, there are far more effective ways to help get depression under control.
One of the best is exercise. Even something as simple as a brisk walk can work as well as meds, but without the side effects. And as a bonus, regular physical activity delivers multiple health benefits, including better immune function.
Curcumin, a natural compound from the spice turmeric, has matched drugs in studies aimed at combatting depression… and again, it has no side effects. Plus, it’s a natural inflammation-fighter.
Other effective natural options include B vitamins (especially methylated B12), high-dose fish oil, rhodiola, saffron, and CBD.
But speak to your doctor first, or an integrative or functional medicine doctor who will work with you to naturally treat depression.
